  3. What a fine album, FINE sound- finest recording, engineering, and production. Santana's vintage rock sound with just a tiny dash of disco sensibility. I saw Santana around then and this captures their vibe from that bygone era pretty-much perfectly. Go for the vinyl if you're deciding between that and the CD- /5(28).

  5. Freedom marked several reunions in the Santana band, which was now a nonet. In addition to Carlos, the band consisted of percussionists Armando Pereza, Orestes Vilato, and Raul Rekow; returning drummer Graham Lear; bassist Alphonso Johnson; returning keyboardist Tom Coster, keyboardist Chester Thompson, and, on lead vocals, Buddy Miles, who had made a duet album with Santana 15 years before.

  8. But then we also have Before We Go, a tracks that is a pastiche of a ballad from Eric Clapton´s album August. If you know Clapton´s ballads of the period you get it. So in the end I found Freedom not a bad album, it has its moments (if you don´t mind those typical synth sounds of the time), but far from anything he has done in the 70´s or 2/5(5).
